The Biodiversity Gateway of the CNR Rome 1 Research Area aims to become a strategic center that connects science, society and institutions, transforming Montelibretti into a knowledge ecosystem where research, dissemination and participation can coexist.
Through innovative spaces, multimedia content and public engagement activities, the Gateway aims to make science accessible and engaging, raising awareness about biodiversity and environmental challenges.
The main activities, which may be implemented depending on the availability of funds, are four:
- Outreach spaces and immersive trails to encourage encounters and sensory experiences related to nature.
- Production of scientific and artistic content to communicate creatively.
- Events and public education, with science activities and tours both during European Researchers’ Night and throughout the year.
- BIO.ME Demo Lab & Drones, advanced laboratory for monitoring Mediterranean biodiversity with sensors, drones and satellite data.
The project strengthens the dialogue between science and citizens, enhancing biodiversity as the cultural and scientific heritage of the area.
