The Lecce Node is located in the Palmieri Boarding School, a neoclassical building in the city center. The complex, originally a Franciscan convent, became a prestigious high school-boarding school in the 19th century.
Today it houses the “Nicola Bernardini” Library and is part of the Lecce Biblio-Museum Pole.
Activities are curated by CNR-NANOTEC in collaboration with the Apulia Region, University of Salento, Province of Lecce and DHITEC Technology District.
The Node, included in national and European research and innovation networks, contributes to ecological transition, cultural heritage enhancement and interdisciplinary education, with objectives of:
- Promote research and dissemination on biodiversity issues.
- Foster technological innovation through co-working spaces and skills accelerators.
- Actively involve students, citizens and businesses in educational and training paths.
Its mission is to serve as a technology incubator and support center for the study of ecological responses of biodiversity to climate change, making use of immersive spaces such as the 3D CAVE and co-working environments to enhance scientific and technological expertise.
