Fano
Index
The Fano territorial node of the Biodiversity Gateway is based at the Fano Marine Center (FMC), an inter-institutional center involving CNR-IRBIM, University of Bologna, Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN), UniversitĂ Politecnica delle Marche and University of Urbino, under the patronage of the Municipality of Fano. The node is a reference point for the promotion and protection of marine biodiversity, thanks in part to the strategic role of DIDAMAR, the SZN’s teaching-exhibition aquarium.
The development plan includes the creation of the BG ALIEN_LAB, an innovative laboratory dedicated to the study and dissemination of issues related to alien marine species, with immersive and interactive spaces, projections, VR content, and the integration of the ORMEF project to expand the accessibility of the museum geoportal.
Major activities include:
Scientific support to stakeholders and administrations, including with regard to the management and enhancement of alien species in Italian seas.
Educational paths for primary and secondary schools in collaboration with DIDAMAR to strengthen knowledge and conservation of marine biodiversity.
PCTO and university internships to integrate theoretical and practical training and bring students closer to scientific research.
Training for young researchers and teachers on biodiversity, climate change and anthropogenic impacts.
Conferences, seminars and workshops to foster scientific dialogue and territorial networking.
