The Museum of Geology and Paleontology in Florence has created a detailed 3-D model of Linda, the fossil skeleton of Mammuthus meridionalis, making it accessible to a wider audience and facilitating consultation to researchers remotely. Digitization is useful in that it allows the specimen to be studied in a non-invasive way, preserving the integrity of the original fossil and encouraging biodiversity outreach, while also offering new perspectives for scientific analysis and paleontological education. A step forward in the enhancement of museum heritage through the use of innovative technologies.
