To escape interactions with humans and other predators, nutria (Myocastor coypus) are most active during twilight and at night. This is the finding of a study that analyzed these invasive rodents in Serravalle Urban Park in Empoli for 12 months using phototraps to understand their behavior and develop effective management strategies. To limit their visibility, nutria also get little exposure on full moon nights. The hypothesis is that theirs is an anti-predatory mechanism. For the future, the aim is to study them in the warmer months, when they are most detectable on land.
