Young lobsters for restocking: a review

Entering a new phase is Progetto Astici, a Tuscia University initiative launched nearly two decades ago to counter the decline of lobster populations in the Mediterranean.

The focus will be on evaluations of the scientific impact of the restocking (i.e., assessing the contribution of the released lobsters to the catch, natural populations, and small-scale fisheries) and thecommunicative effectiveness of the project (i.e., the level of knowledge and appreciation of what has been done by fishermen and the local community). Project Lobsters will continue the releases for at least another ten years.
