The Biodiversity Gateway (BG) in Venice will have its physical headquarters at the Palazzina Canonica complex, currently under restoration and scheduled to reopen in 2029, and will also carry out part of its activities at the CNR ISMAR headquarters in the Arsenal.

Planned activities, aimed at schools, citizens and businesses, include:

  • Educational paths on biodiversity and Ocean Literacy, strengthening collaborations with institutions and associations to expand educational offerings in an inclusive and interdisciplinary way.
  • Advanced university training, with international winter and summer schools and specialized courses on the topic of biodiversity for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Production of multimedia and editorial content, including the series “Percorsi Biodiversi,” dedicated to the interdisciplinary discovery of biodiversity in the Venetian cultural heritage.

Depending on the type of home institution, activities may include:

Support the organization of events, collaborating in the implementation of scientific and popular initiatives promoted by the Gateway.

Science workshops to develop skills in the study of biodiversity and threats to it, through observation and analysis of biological samples and environmental matrices.

Communication activities and interaction with the public through guided tours of the Gateway’s exhibition spaces equipped with immersive installations, interactive screens and multimedia stations that allow for immersive exploration of the beauty and complexity of biodiversity, with a particular focus on the Venice Lagoon, and access to the data and content of the Biodiversity Gateway Portal.
